Defensive Tactics for K-9 Teams - April 7

A one day seminar presented by Terry Fleck.

This one-day course will cover these following areas:

  • Contact / cover, using a police dog;
  • Maintaining cover, using a police dog;
  • Use of a police dog as a use of force;
  • Combinations of use of force to control a physically aggressive suspect;
  • Combining the use of a K-9 handler AND the dog as a use of force;
  • The K-9 team successfully taking a suspect into custody.

There are three components necessary for a successful canine team:

  • Canine training
  • Tactical training for the handler;
  • Legality training on the proper deployment and use of the canine.

This course will address the tactics needed for both the dog and handler, in order to win in a physical confrontation with a suspect.
